Superbia in Asteriscis : Pride in Asterisks

A shirt for the Manchester City faithful, struggling to process the reality of the Asterisk Era. As usual, we will face adversity (AdverCity) with defiance and humour.

Let's be honest, when the club changed the badge in 1997 and put three stars over the badge - we were all struggling to work out what they represented ... FA cups in 1934, 1956 and 1969? Consecutive relegations? Oasis Number Ones? In fact, the club admitted that the stars were 'purely decorative' and they'd been added to give the shirt a 'more continental feel'.

Little did they know that 15 short years later those stars would actually start to symbolise success! Those successes may now be tainted with controversy and allegations of cheating, but no City fan, after years of long-suffering loyalty, will be robbed of the joy we felt at the time; no player should have their skill and dedication questioned because of whatever the board was up to; and no one should ever be ashamed to follow City.

So in that spirit, I offer you the Asterisk Era T-shirt. They can put an asterisk next to all those Prem Titles but we saw what we saw, and they'll never take that away. That badge that we wore from 1997-2016 bore the motto Superbia In Proelio : Pride in Battle. This Badge declares: Superbia in Asteriscis : Pride in Asterisks

Finally, if the shirt takes off, I will donate a portion of the profit from all sales to Grassroots Football and SEND charities in Manchester. And remember, this is a bit of fun no offence is intended and none should be taken! MCFC CTID

This is an independent, unofficial parody artwork by James Nunn. It is not produced, licensed, approved or endorsed by Manchester City Football Club and has no commercial association with the club. The badge is an original hand-drawn satirical reinterpretation of the crest used by Manchester City FC between 1997 and 2016.
